Dying Hydrangea?

Does anyone have any ideas about what has caused this with my hydrangea? It seemed to be doing fine, and then suddenly part of it looks to be dying off.

Has it been kept well watered?
An alternative is animal urine - they're a bl**dy nuisance if marking territory.
If that's a possibility, give it a thorough soaking - but not if it's sunny where you are. Wait until there's enough shade there.

  • Ah, animal urine could make sense. Thanks Fairygirl. I have a few plants that have suddenly and mysteriously perished, planted alongside others of the same type that are thriving. I wonder if they're getting peed on!

Either way I would water copiously - 10 to 15 litres at a time and done daily till it recovers.   The water will dilute any urine still in the surface soil and help the whole plant recover.
