What is this bulb?

Can anybody help identify what this bulb is pleased. Just pulled it out of the garden in the house we have been in for 7 months. It hasn’t done anything in that time.
Many thanks in anticipation 😊

Its like no bulb I've ever seen, but then I've only seen he usual garden spring bulbs.
Are you sure it's a bulb and not a seed pod, as hard to tell the size from your photo.

    allium
    Devon.
  • Ah, I wondered if maybe an allium. It is quite large, about the size of the palm of my hand.
Do they normally sit dormant as this has done nothing the whole time is has been there?

Judging by the greening on top, was it planted too shallow, with the top part sticking out of the soil?  Alliums need to be planted deep, at about four times the diameter of the bulb.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Sectioning the bulb would provide many answers.
