Fushia mite

I have kept going by cuttings for 33 years a Fushia plant of my mother’s, but this year will be its last.
All the plants here have got this mite, prevalent apparently in the South of England, but we hear nothing about it & of any possible cure ( apparently there isn’t one at the moment). The leaves & flowers are all cramped & distorted.
Are garden centres aware of this problem when buying in young stock at the beginning of the season, I wonder.

A couple of fuchsias that I've cut down to sticks as a precursor to digging them out, have re sprouted with healthy leaves. I think they'll never get a chance to become as big as before, because I suspect they'll get it again but at least they're not dead.
Apparently, you need to be careful not to spread it on your hands or tools.
Some of the ones that are less affected,I pick off and dispose of the curly bits. This drastically reduces the number of flowers, so I might give up on some of them.
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • Thanks keen but lazy ( sums me up too) all my Fushias are affected, & I’m wondering if people are generally aware of this mite.
Its mostly in the south but working its way north.
I noticed it last year & not knowing anything about it, took cuttings as usual & have lost the lot.
