does anyone recognise this plant? Some sort of lily or iris?

    Carex Pendula. 
    Leave it to grow if you like it , but NEVER let it set seed.
    I'd remove it asap , whilst you have the chance

    It looks much more like Carex pendula, than the others mentioned.
