Corokia cotoneaster and muehlenbeckia astonii advice please

greenlovegreenlove Posts: 164
I have bought a couple of Corokia Cotoneaster and Muehlenbeckia Astonii plants and have been growning them indoors (on the sill of a south facing window) for several months now. I wanted to check if anyone knows much about these new Zealand plants and whether they can be grown outside in the UK? I have grown another NZ native plant, the Sophora "Little baby" outdoors from a small plant for many years, quite sucessfully and was hoping that I can do the same with the above mentioned two plants as well.

I had Muehlenbeckia astonii in a winter hanging basket last year. It was fine but it is in a sheltered courtyard which may have helped.  But it also grows outside in my local Botanic Gardens 😀

The Corokia definitely grows outside (with v good drainage) in central London - depends where you are?

I live in Cheshire. I think the weather in London may be a bit warmer. I do certainly have a nice sheltered spot for it though. I usually mix top soil/compst/gravel to use for planting in pots so drainage should be good.

Would it help if I bought a small greenhouse to put these plants in during winter?
