sambucus nigra (black beauty)

can someone expalin if this is a true shrub or a man made variety that will grow up to 8/10'
as i would like to buy one and would end of season be a good time?

    Not sure what you mean by 'a true shrub or a man made variety'. 
    It is a cultivated variety of Elder, and will grow to a good height if left unpruned, but can be pruned back to a smaller size if necessary.

    You can buy and plant at any time, assuming it's a potted specimen. Autumn is easier for establishing, if you live in dry area, but you can plant anytime as long as the ground isn't frozen or waterlogged. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

  • it just the short time ive been gardening ive noticed professionals vary plants and as
    far a si understand shrubs are about 8'? any info well received..

    Shrubs come in all shapes and sizes. Lots of them don't get as big as 8 feet  :)

    The pic is from the summit of a hill in the north west Highlands- Sgurr a Mhaoraich.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
