Any suggsetion for shrubs for a shady bed

    Almost anything will do to help, although a good quality one will always be better than a poor one with lots of rubbish in it.
    You can add compost as a mulch throughout the year as well. The chicken pellets can just be mixed in or sprinkled in too, as per the instructions. 
    If you don't intend planting for a while, you can simply pile the compost onto the bed, and it will work it's way in over the next few months.  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    Thanks,I think I have a couple of bags of compost in my garage.I'm not in a rush so that compost working it's way in to the bed sounds good to me,it's just good to get a few ideas and have a think about things.

    Don't worry about that - we knew what you meant  :)

    The edit button only works for an hour on your actual post anyway. It's the little black wheel up beside the time on your post. The thread heading can't be altered.
