The location will be east facing (receives about 6 hours of sunlight in high summer), good soil, will be trained over a door and bay window.
Has to have a strong scent and be a repeat flowerer.
Ideally a climber up to about 6m.
Will by climbing close to verbena bonariensis.
Thanks.

Not a climber but a repeat flowering rambler - https://www.davidaustinroses.co.uk/products/malvern-hills

Being a rambler it's easier to train than a stiffer limbed climber.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

'Clarence House' could work for you there, to suggest something other than DA. Citrusy fragrance, creamy white with yellow centres.

That's lovely.   For some reason Peter Beale's Roses don't seem to sell to the continent.  Never came across their stuff in my 25 years in Belgium and I dealt with a couple of rose suppliers there.  Nor here so far.

That’s a beauty. I wonder if it would have enough sun, on my east facing brick wall?
The other thing I forgot to mention is that I'd love a rose that doesn’t shed its petals really easily, so more like a Gertrude Jekyll that holds onto them for longer.
And I tend to prefer roses that have small to medium sized blooms, which CH seems to have.

@Obelixx do you happen to know if Malvern Hills sheds petals at the mearest touch? I do like the colour, but I fear that the size it’ll reach may swamp my entrance door! That’s huge!

@SlipperyElm I do love The Pilgrim. I have to say that as far as bloom type goes, my absolute favourite is Vanessa Bell, but as far as colour goes, I really like Paul’s Lemon Pillar. Sadly, VB only seems to come as a standard and a shrub, but not a climber... I’m not fussy at all, really 😁

You asked for a 6m coverage.  Malvern Hills is advertised at between 4 and 5m tho I suspect would get bigger if allowed but, given judicious training, I don't see why it would swamp you.

Mine is growing on a rigid mesh fence in full sun.  I haven't noticed it dropping its petals but then it's in a border with clematis alongside and shrubs and perennials in front and not in full view all the time.   In the heat here its petals go pink at the edges as they fade from yellow to cream but that never happened to the one I had in Belgium.

Mine is still small, 1st year. So I don't know how long the blooms last (I don't notice much and in the 1st year, it wouldn't be typical anyway). I can say it repeats well for a climber. And it has been healthy for me so far.
