Hornwort gone crazy!!

For over 40 years I have always had the pond plant Elodea densa in my ponds.I have tried other oxygenators but they never really got going.
This year however the Hornwort which was just a small clump has gone wild and filled the pond!
Wonder if it is all the sunshine we have been having?

Ours does this every summer ... OH thins it out two or three times leaving it on the side for a couple of days before composting  😊

Just strange that it has grown so well this year and not in the past 40!!
There was definitely more of the Elodea densa planted than the Hornwort.
