Advice needed for which compost to use in vegetable trug please

I have just bought a large vegetable trug (planter on legs for growing vegetables) and would like some advice on what compost (or mix of) to use in it.
I am aware it is very late for vegetables but do you have any suggestions on what to plant for an autumn crop please
