  • Sorry to jump on this thread but I wondered if Malorena would know the name of my rose that I’ve been puzzling over for ages,
    it has green and cream foliage and a lovely pink flower.
    sorry no picture.

    @Chrissy the gardener Green and cream foliage? You mean variegated? Is it a modern rose, repeating, double blooms? Or something else (climber, species, old rose...)?

    EDIT: Posting at the same time again :)
  • Not that one Marlomea it’s a much deeper pink, yes variegated foliage, only had one flower on it but it’s still quite small as I had to rescue it from a dry flower bed. Bush type I think.

    @Chrissy the gardener
    ...then you would have to provide a photo... 'Verschuren' is the only rose offered here with variegated foliage..

    I’ll post pictures @Marlorena.  I’m sure I’m doing things wrong but I’ll tend them and love them and hopefully, they’ll repay me 😀
  • Good morning @Marlorena @Pianoplayer.  Drove past my village shop again yesterday and spotted this beauty ☺️  It’s now in my garden ready to be planted.  I know it’s a rugosa but any idea of the name?  Thanks again in advance 😊

    No, not a rugosa, the foliage is not correct for that..
    ..I'm sorry but it's not possible to i.d. that rose, because we don't know what type it is, whether a patio, shrub, climber, rambler.. at this stage it could turn into anything, this is why it's important to see a rose fully grown and established in a garden.

    ... you would need to go back to the people who sold it to you, and ask them where they got it from, that would help... otherwise it could even be just a seedling rose somebody grew and potted on, and sold it to you..  when roses are grown from seed, so many turn out to be single 5 petalled pink or white roses, just like that..
    If it's a rose in commerce then we would need to know from where it was obtained originally... otherwise it just becomes a guessing game..

    Sorry I can't be of more help on that one.. but it's quite a pretty rose, I hope it does well for you... nice healthy foliage too..

    @Marlorena. Please don’t apologise, you’ve been more than helpful with all the other ones you’ve identified.  I confess to being a bit relieved it’s not a rugosa as I gather they grow quite big?  I’ll try and contact the little nursery who supply the shop.  Either way, it is pretty so I’ll just enjoy it.  Thanks again ☺️
