No quarrying?  No river dredging for sand,  What will houses be built of?  Where will you get the lithium that your computer, phone and anything else you use that has a battery.
There would be no communication, no people because they wouldn’t have anywhere to live unless they built houses from wood, then no forests.
No factories,  no work , ideal but not very practical.
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

I had a vegan activist friend in university who would finish a person's burger or ham sandwich because he also strongly against food waste.  His logic was he didn't purchase it (so not supporting by buying) and it was destined for the garbage.  My point is there is a compromise available if you are willing to find it.  And in the case of some things, willing to pay a lot more eg, filtered peat from river runoff.

  • Thanks for the nut and oyster ideas.  Will look into those.
  • Have just come across rice hulls as an aerator.  Need to beware of heavy metals though...
  • And biochar
  • We're going to have to find alternatives for lots of things because it's not an endless supply: building materials, fuels, foods.  One day there won't even be enough sand to bury our heads in.

lol.. you mean turf! Yes it can arouse... war. I used to post on a big Irish forum and when that topic came up POW!. They have now closed the power stations that ran on turf. NB Ireland is one great BOG. Yes I burn turf; my neighbour cuts in his two small fields and buying it helps him feed his family. The alternative fuel out here on the island is Polish coal; imagine the "carbon footprint "   of that. Electricity here is a dreadful price. And hypothermia among old folk is a common killer. Oh I must order my turf soon..
