Pear tree advice

Is this normal to have new flowers now in August on a pear tree with fruit (conference pears)?

No, probably not but the plants are so confused with the weather patterns this year, that anything is possible!

I've had both a pear and an apple (both laden with fruit) also throw out very late flowers this year, so agree with @Lizzie27
I have to add that I'm jealous that your pear shows no sign of Pear Rust, all 5 of mine are covered in orange spots, as per usual. 😡

Thanks for the feedback - where are you Bob as I’m on the South coast so can the pear rust be down to the weather??

Interestingly we have less rust (so far) on our pear tree this year ... I was wondering whether it could be down to the felling this spring of a large juniper across the road ... given that the juniper is host to the first part of the life-cycle of the pear rust.  If so perhaps I won't mourn the tree's passing as much as I did  ;)

Highly likely, you lucky thing!  I live within a few hundred metres of an arboretum which is certain to have junipers so am resigned to having to live with it.  I still get pears though, so no big deal other than the aesthetics.  In the next life I hope I'll choose to site them somewhere a bit more out of sight though! :D
