  • That is so good to know, thank you! Yes, the Amber is Koreana. I've done a lot of reading on all the plants before getting them, but I guess there's only so much you can learn from online articles...
Thank you all, I am off to save my Vagabond!  :D

I had Vagabond in my last garden but winters were usually so cold all the top growth was killed off so I treated it and all my other group 2s as a group 3.  Prune hard in spring, feed and make sure they don't get thirsty.  They would then grow well, start flowering in June and go on most of the summer, especially if I dead headed and gave an occasional drink of tomato feed.

This was in central rural Belgium and easily as wet as Manchester except when we'd get a summer heatwave in the high 30s.   If yours is up against a fence or wall or other plants it may be in a rain shadow so water, water, water.

Haven't seen koreanas here, or there, but I do have some seed to try.

  • Such detailed advice, much appreciated! And yes, it is against a fence... So water it is!

Ah - yes, if they're against a fence, they'll always be drier.
The ones which prefer a drier spot are more than happy there -alpinas, macropetalas etc, but the bigger flowered ones, and the later ones will find it harder, even if they're in the path of the prevailing weather.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
