Fence colour

  • Black is so boring though...like all the grey Farrow and Ball colours overdone to death. A deep green or blue is equally nice and feels softer visually. The style of the planting has to be taken into account too. But then, I'm biased with my deep blue fence ;)
I understand why some people would want more colour but I don't think it would look right in our garden. We look out over countryside and I want the garden to feel like an extension of that, so planning on neutral hues for the wood with splashes of colour from the plants we add. 🙂

@jolwalshxDZO7bE9 I used Cuprinol Garden Shades which can be slapped over any reasonably sound surface pretty much, so didn't do any prep. The only thing it seems to struggle with is previous coats of Cuprinol Garden Shades which were applied recently (you have a window of a few hours to recoat, otherwise you need to sand the surface between coats!) Luckily it covers very well.
Thank you! I will look for that brand when we buy the paint
  • I think you misunderstood what I meant...I was referring to very deep shades of green and blue, in similar tonalities to the black colours suggested...if you think black flows better with the countryside beyond...then we have a different aesthetic and sense of continuity. But glad you're letting that horrible brown go. I'm happy to have a fence that won't need painting for another 20+ years and only have a summer house to have to repaint ;) Not exactly my favourite activity.

Do you have an image of the colours you mean as I'm struggling to visualise it?
