I read the first part, and also thought er where is the "please", I have an Acanthus, the new leaves each spring do look a lot like the first pic, the second, yes more like a member of the Mallow family. Now you are part of "our" family, keep us posted!
Hello, my dear "family". After a few months of anxiously waiting in the end I've given up for this year, as this plant has not produced any flowers at all! (see attached picture I've just taken). So, the mystery hasn't been solved, but perhaps, with a little luck, it'll come back next year with a fantastic display of flowers? fingers crossed...
Hello everyone! It's been so long since our conversation trying to identify my misterious plant in October last year... Hope you're all well.
Now that it's flowered, Dovefromabove, I'm no expert, but I think you were absolutely right. It seems to be a malva. Perhaps lavatera maritima? Picture attached.
I saw plenty of it in Dell Quay, Chichester Harbour, a few months ago, just the leaves, too early for flowers. Mine started to flower only a few weeks ago and now it's looking really good with plenty of flowers. Quite small, as it's not in the ground but in a small planter.
