Snail trap

I've recently started leaning old slate tiles against the walls in the shadier parts of my garden in order to trap those pesky molluscs, and it's proving very successful. Probably better, and certainly more humane than pellets, they gather in numbers on the backs of the tiles and then it's just a question of how I should dispose of them, and repeat every few days.

    They have a strong homing instinct.  In experiments with marked snails, they have returned from as far as a quarter of a mile away.  So you can take them with you in a closed box or jar when you go for a walk, and release them as far away as possible.  Preferably nowhere near other people's gardens!
