Bamboo

I have some bamboo which was planted this year. The trouble is it keeps blowing over and is lop sided. I have tried flipping them around today (as per picture) but it hasn't helped. How do I stop it happen and how /should I stake?

Should it really be in a small container like that?  Surely it should be supported by a mature root ball in a full soil situation.

    Agree with nick615

Its like me at 6'4" trying to stand up in a bucket in the wind.

It would be better placed in soil if you can but if not you could top it and provide a 3' round pot.

    Looks like a lovely plant.

If its not a clumping variety don't put it in the ground or it will spread like wildfire and you'll have a real problem on your hands a few years down the line.

A bunch of those spiral supports added in around the larger canes?  The kind used for tomatoes and tall flowers, etc.  A dozen of those will help support the canes around them.

Turning the container won't help because the direction of the wind is the cause of the problem, plus the bamboo stems are flexible and the root system won't be developed enough yet to keep them upright.

    Totally agree.

I planted a cane some years ago knowing it would spread which is what I wanted to fill a space.

If I see a new shaft coming up I pour boiling water over it and it kills that shoot.
