Blueberry not fruiting

Hi, I have been given two blueberry bushes, as the previous owner said they have flowered but never fruited in the last 5 years of owning them.  No idea what variety they are but look quite neglected, about 2 foot tall and pretty spindly in pots.  I have re-potted them in ericaceous compost in new bigger pots and watered.  Any other tips?  should I prune them to get them to put on a growing spurt? and any ideas why they might not have fruited?

Are you watering them with rain water?  It sounds like you've done the right thing in replanting them.  Prune them this winter by cutting out half of the oldest branches back to the ground.  The following winters gradually remove the rest of the old branches a few a year.

  • Thanks, think they have been watered with tap, so will switch to rainwater when I can, thanks for the pruning tips.
