Peony rose

Hi, I've grown a peony rose from a tuber about 2 years ago and it was growing in a pot up until a couple of months ago when I redesigned my garden. I've now planted it in the ground but it doesn't seem to be doing very well and I was wondering if anyone could help me with solving why it's looking very unhappy. I've attached pictures of what it looks like at the minute.

I can't see anything wrong with it, although hopefully the big cane stuck isn't stuck through the roots, and it hasn't been planted any deeper than it was in the pot.
I'd remove the weeds round the bottom too.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
