Salix integra 'Hakuro-Nishiki' Tree Down leaves at bottom

I have 15 young Salix flamingo trees purchased from a plant nursery two weeks ago. Lovely healthy plants that I Planted in raised beds which go directly into the ground soil. The soil is good quality and I have planted them with John innes no 3 At their roots and around the root ball. The leaves only at the bottom of the salix ‘head’ have turned brown. Any suggestions? They have had plenty of water but there has been some winds recently. Thanks in advance.

It could be due to the drying effect  wind or drought at the roots, or a combination of the two.
You cannot overwater a Salix so I would give eCh tree a bucket full of water every other day from now until the middle of September ... start again in March.

Being in raised beds, they'll also dry out much quicker. Are they also far enough apart?
You might struggle to keep them hydrated unless the soil is hefty enough to retain moisture well too. They'll suck up as much as you can give them.
