How about a meadow (or grass border), with a mown seating area facing towards the south west, so the evening sun lights up the grass seed heads. Mown edges and mown paths would help keep it feeling 'tidy'
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
Those paving slabs aren’t earning their keep - they’re neither lettuce nor watercress. Either get rid of them or, preferably, make a proper seating area. A gazebo would be good too, not least to block out the compost bin because your eye is drawn straight to it.
Can you upgrade the hedge? It nicely covers the dull fence but it looks mundane. Roses or clematis would give colour to a very monochrome palette.
I like the brick wall but I might be tempted to have a few plants tumbling over it. Do you intend to forfeit some lawn to make a flower border? I’m not sure I would but, rather unfashionably, I would put some effort into fertilising the grass and eradicating weeds. I love striped lawns.
