Spots on tomatoes

My tumbling tomatoes are starting to ripen but they’ve started developing tiny spots on them. What is this? Are they ok to eat?

My first thoughts are bacterial speck.. or possibly even blight.   How do the leaves on the plant look?  Any spots on those too?

Mums are almost invariably right ... you ask my daughter @WonkyWomble 😉

You shouldn’t water the plant itself ... just the roots/ compost. Watering the plant runs the risk of fungal and bacterial problems developing ... which may be what’s happening there.

I would harvest and wash your spotty tomatoes ... if you are concerned you could peel the skin by blanching with boiling water from the kettle for a couple of minutes then plunging into cold water. The skin will them peel off easily.
