Help! What’s wrong with my Apple tree?

Hi, Apologies in advance that I don’t have much knowledge of gardening or plants. I have recently moved into a property and have an Apple tree in the garden. The tree did not blossom This spring/summer, the leafs are curly and brown/dry at some parts but also I have also noticed white mould growing on some leaves but mainly on the branches. Any suggestions on how to save my Apple tree?

The white stuff is Woolly aphid which you can physically remove with a stiff brush:
The leaves look like the tree has suffered from drought and/or Powdery mildew (which often go hand-in-hand):
I would remove badly affected leaves and tips then give the tree plenty of water between now and winter - 3 bucketfuls twice a week, poured slowly so that it soaks in.
It's not ideal to grow plants at the base of fruit trees because they don't compete well with other plants although spring bulbs are OK.
I would also give it a feed of fish, blood and bone or well-rotted manure, worked gently into the soil around the base, but the most important thing is to give it plenty of water.
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

Thank you so much for your help! This is very useful! We get plenty of rain here in Manchester, but I’ll try give it more water and see how it goes! Thank you so much!
