Passionflower leaves malformed

Hi,
This year I have grown 6 x Passiflora Edulis plants from seeds (they’re about 7 months old now) and they were really healthy looking. Recently though, all the new leaves from the top and from leaf nodes are all growing seriously malformed. They get watered once a week and I use miracle gro on them every other week and they live outside in full sun (east facing) and I can’t find an answer anywhere online. There a no insects or anything on the underside of the leaves. Please help! I’ve nurtured these from seeds and will be gutted to lose them.
Thanks
David.

The rest of the plant looks great, really healthy, so unlikely to be nutrient or environment related. Every time I've seen this kind of issue, it's aphids or some other sap sucker. Appreciate that you're certain the plants are free of bugs, but I'd spray with soap and neem oil just to be safe.

Thanks strelizia32, I appreciate the response. I have had a good close look and can’t see anything with the naked eye but I agree that it is something ‘new’ that is causing it like a tiny bug or something so I’ll spray it as you’ve suggested. Can’t hurt! Fingers crossed.
  • Hi Fitzduk, I know your post is a couple years old, but I have several plants that look exactly like this! Did you end up treating with Neem? Did it help, or did you have to try something else. Much appreciated!

    Hey @nellallen5 happy to help.
I used neem oil weekly for a couple of months and it definitely helped. It didn’t correct any of the already deformed leaves but the plant grew on to be stronger with properly formed leaves and is now a healthy 8 ft plant. Still get the odd deformed leaf now and then but 99% of it is perfect.
Couldn’t honestly say whether it was solely down to the neem oil or if it just grew beyond whatever was causing the problem but i would recommend using neem oil - it can’t hurt to cover all your bases.
FYI the neem oil STINKS so be sure to spray it somewhere away from the house / any open windows etc.
hope that helps - feel free to drop any other questions in a reply.
    Cheers
