@Fire. I googled how to claim refund from Amazon order and it just didn't work. It was as though the company had never existed. Unless there is a way to contact Amazon directly with the order reference I doubt I shall ever see the money again. Fortunately it was only a small amount but it would have bought a half decent plant.
You should be able to get a refund. I have done several over the years with no problems. Is the order showing in your list? You don't need to know the company name. From there you should be able to start a claim.

@Fire. @madpenguin. Thank you both for being so helpful. I had the reference of the order and eventually got it up on the screen as it didn't appear with other orders. Although I had had a confirmation of the purchase I automatically assumed I had paid for it. On the cancelled order amount it had £0.00 so I realised that the money probably had never left my account and after looking that was the answer! If you hadn't helped me out I would always have thought I had lost the money so feel much better now. Many thanks I shall be more careful in future.
@Fran IOM God knows it's easily done. I have just ordered a second hand macro lens on Ebay. I am usually good at reading the small print, but I discover it is being sent from Jersey and from there taxes are added - in this case 10% of the blasted lens. Why the hefty import tax? (*fumes*). It is also a salient note to self not to order anything online when I am tired and overwhelmed. I nearly always end up sending it back because there is a mistake.
@Fire Unfortunately Jersey like IOM are not part of the UK. We are self-governing dependencies of the Crown. (Words from google). I was lucky when I was ordering just one plant from a Garden Centre that they came back to me to say that the courier wanted £17 to deliver to IOM. They didn't feel they could go ahead as it would be more than the cost of the plant. What courier company they were dealing with I don't know as a lot of my orders come by courier. Not an idiot just a tired human being like the rest of us.
We are part of the British Isles @FlyDragon but not part of the United Kingdom. We always seem to get a bad press, and if truth be told most native Guernsey people would rather not have the Finance Industry here, but times change and growing tomatoes, a tourist industry and fishing are just not viable any more.
Sorry to butt in but the Channel Islands are part of the British Isles but not part of Great Britain - different things. The British Isles include all islands under sovereign rule, Great Britain is the biggest of these and is made up of England, Scotland and Wales.
OK, OK I'm going now..........

I always thought that the British Isles referred to the archipelago that contains great Britain, Ireland, IOW, IOM, the Scottish and Irish Islands etc.
The channel islands are a different archipelago on the other side of the channel off the coast of France, not part of the same geographical area.
It makes a big difference, especially when trying to explain to the French or Belgians that "Angleterre" is not the same as United Kingdoms or Great Britain. Odd really as France includes overseas places such as Guadeloupe, Réunion, Martinique etc but for postal purposes it is limited to France "metropolitaine" which is European France - the hexagon plus the close islands in the Channel, Atlantic and Corsica in the Med.
Vendée - 20kms from Atlantic coast.

Not that it especially matters I suppose.
