Deformed new growth on rose. Should I be concerned?

Hi all

I bought a proper job rose earlier this year and planted it where a climbing rose had previously been growing. I dug up a lot of the soil, replaced with new and used mycorrhizal fungi as well. The rose bloomed well but it's definitely smaller than other roses bought at the same time. Is this rose replant disease or something worse?

Many thanks!

Katsa

Hello Katsa. It looks fine! New growth on roses is often copper coloured. It might take a couple of years to get going. Keep it watered and all will be well. Planting where another rose had be n might not have the best plan but if you took out a lot of soil and replaced it with new it ought to be ok.

Hi Joy, thanks. I just thought the leaves were very deformed compared to the new growth on my other roses.
