Looks normal to me but it also looks like the soil is very dry so I would give it a good, regular soaking with 5 to 10 litres of water poured round its roots slowly so it soaks in rather than runs off.  Repeat every 2 to 3 days.

Ok Thank you that’s weird as I’ve just been weeding that area and removed two died down perreainls and the soil was very damp

It looks dry in the photo so if it's damp, and not just at the surface, leave it alone but keep an eye on it.  Hydrangea's don't like to get thirsty.

I would dig it up and plant it about 3’ from the wall. They’re big plants, need lots of growing room and the wall will shelter it from the rain and soak up any water you put down for it.

You can move it now, dig the fresh hole first then it will hardly know it’s been moved. Tread it in well with your foot. Water well,  I’m sure it will be fine.  It will benefit from being away from the wall and will grow to fill the space.

Ok my only problem is you can’t see it’s in a border so don’t have much room. Dam looks like I’ve made a blooper here buying this plant

I think youll be fine with more water, and a bit of patience.  Mine took a few seasons and a couple of moves to get going now its a big enough bush with plenty of flowers.

This time of year a twide weekly soaking is in order, even though it gets very little direct sunlight and even then it gets dried out occasionally and looks terrible.  A good soak and the next day its right as rain, if you’ll excuse the pun. 🙂
