Anybody have any thoughts/experience re. the use of honey as a substitute for/addition to a rooting agent?

Never heard of it but, since I can't get rooting hormone powder here I had a google and found this - https://www.gardeningknowhow.com/garden-how-to/propagation/cuttings/honey-root-hormone.htm#:~:text=in%20length%20and%20cut%20on,soil%2C%20water%20and%20even%20rockwool.

Now to find some raw honey.....

Thanks for that link @Obelixx. I'd seen another article about honey potentially keeping the cutting bacteria-free but that credits it with even more superpowers. I've given it a go with a variety of cuttings taken yesterday so I'll post the results when they're in.

For several years now I have used the pulp from Aloe vera leaves. It is both antibacterial and antifungal and definitely speeds up rooting.

I have aloe veras but not raw honey.  Do you just wipe a cut leaf against the the cutting or what?

I have used soluble Vitamin C tablets - obviously dissolved in some water - as an aid to rooting cuttings. However, I have no empirical evidence to prove that cuttings treated like this root any better than those just left alone.

Can't comment on it as a rooting agent, but I've always used it to fix snapped tomato plants like this:
