Is this japanese knotweed?

Just bought a new house so new to gardening. I saw these weeds in the garden.. I can't tell if it's japanese knotweed? Can anyone help?

    It looks like bindweed to me. It is a real thug, sorry.

    bindweed, almost as annoying, ( but much easier to kill )

    I too have killed it but it needs a lot of care and patience. Given that I would take bindweed over Japanese knotweed any day. By the way, if you have a plot rather than a 'garden', do your best to get rid of the bindweed before planting anything. It's much harder to eradicate it when it has wrapped its horrible roots around your precious plants.
