Wind damage!

Hi everyone

I moved into my new house back in October and have spent spring and summer establishing a new garden. It really does seem to be a garden of two halves due to the wind! I’m on slightly higher ground than previously and back onto a wood, which is a good 6-8metres below. Prevailing winds are common and I think they are responsible for some of my new plants not doing well. I’ve attached two photos, one of agastache and echinacea establishing well (away from the wind) and one of them not doing well at all (in the wind). Sun levels are good at both parts of the garden.
Firstly, am I right to think this is wind damage and if so, what can I do about it?!
Thanks.
Phil.

Wind is very drying so plants in its way need extra water, well-nourished soil full of moisture retentive material such as well-rotted manure and/or garden compost and a good mulch around the plant base after a good watering.

Is that plastic trellis intended to support a clematis?   I would suggest you take it down - carefully - and attach horizontal battens along the top, bottom and middle of the fence and then staple the trellis back on making sure it is held tight.   This will allow air to circulate and reduce sickness such as mildew and also allow the clematis to cling better and be much more secure in strong winds.
