Out here many of the fields are small and inaccessible to tractors etc so my neighbours scythe. It is a wonderful sight seeing them outlined against sky and ocean.
Maybe you can hire someone to do it? Contact a person local to you from the scythe association, they probably know someone. At least until you get into good practice. 😁. But this way you are supporting a dying art AND considering your wildlife.
Sounds a good idea but there isn't anyone near us that's registered/showing online. I have found someone who offers one to one courses though, so that's a possibility!
I should have mentioned that you can change the blades on the Austrian scythe depending on what you are cutting e.g. shorter blade for thicker growth/brambles, etc.
