problem weed spreading

I have a heavy clay soil , which naturally gets very waterlogged over the winter months. Last year I noticed a minute green plant growing in patches in the grassed areas as well as in areas where the grass was fairly bare. ( see picture ).
I have attempted various things, such as digging up patches as turfs and disposing of them; not cutting the grass so short. But it just seems to spread so quickly, and I believe also in an airborne manner.
Alongside the spread of this weed I have noticed an increase in clover and other weed in the grass and believe the ground needs feeding but do not know what to use.
Can anyone give me some advise please?

Hello @umberto.regan and welcome to the forum 😊

That’s a plant sometimes used as groundcover in damp shady spots, but it can become a nuisance.

It’s commonly known known as ‘Mind your own Business’ ...

Does anyone know how it came to have such an odd name?  I love its botanical name: Soleirolio soleirolii.  That name should be set to music and sung by an operatic tenor in a gondola.

Maybe because it keeps poking its nose where it’s not wanted @josusa47 😉

Bob Flowerdew says the origin of the name has been lost:
I do like the alternative 'Corsican Curse' though! :)
A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
