when to sow seeds

historymanhistoryman Posts: 141
When is the right time to sow seeds (collected from own garden) I have been doing this Feb/March, following instruction that are on bought packets.
I have noticed that Pansy/Violas that self seeded have already grown small plants.
Has anyone had any luck with Honeysuckle seeds?
Are there any seeds that need to be sown immediately? I seem to remember Carol Klein saying it was Primulas ??
Thanks

Some seeds do best if sown fresh, like primula.   Others need a period of stratification (exposure to sinter conditions) to break dormancy and make them germinate.  Hellebore is another.

Have a read of this info from the RHS - https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=675 and then I would experiment - sow some fresh and store some for sowing later so you have your bases covered.
