The right traditional prunus Kazan?

ninac-zninac-z Posts: 18
Hey Plant People,
I'm ready to get a Prunus Kazan to my garden. Was doing some research and found out that "Kazan" is actually a whole category of threes in Japan, and there are plenty of them. But around here the plants are sold simply as Prunus Kazan as if it were an specific kind of tree. Has anyone know more about it? I'd like to have the real traditional one - the most common one on Japan: A profusion of double pink flowers on long spreading steaks. We all have seeing it but i cant find the correct name of that species. Help? Anyone?

My understanding is that the Kanzan sold here is one specific cultivar which was introduced from Japan around the 1900s. I seem to recall reading that there are hundreds of varieties of cherry tree in Japan and that it’s an urban myth that all their cherry trees are one variety. The most common is a wild variety Yama——?? but how garden worth it is or easy to obtain I have no idea.
