Pinching out aubergines

I think these are fruits developing so is this the sideshoot I need to pinch out?

  • I've never pinched out aubergines...the UK growing season is short enough...I'll have all the fruits they may offer.

Agree with @amancalledgeorge. Pinching out tips will create a bushier plant, but you need luck and good weather to get decent aubergine in the UK. Leave them be for now, don't start pinching out until later in August when you desperately try to get some fruit to ripen  ;)
  • Ah thanks, I’d read they’re hard to grow but came in a mixed pack of what I could get during lockdown (ROI) so thought I’d give them a go. Fairly aphid attacked and ragged but I’ll persevere!
