Wilting Solanum crispin Glasnevin

I'm very new to gardening and planted this on recommendation against a shady wall about 6 weeks ago - it's been so happy we've almost watched it grow in real time. It was a third of this height when I planted it. About a week ago it showed its first flowers, but then a couple of days later all the leaves suddenly wilted overnight. I've got lots of pots that I water every couple of days, so I always give it a little water then too - 30 seconds or so. Am I over or under watering maybe? Thanks

These plants to me always present a bit of a dilemna ! Some self-support and others require the assistance of trellis .
What I do know for definite is that they prefer a neutral/alkaline free-draining soil on a wall with a sunny SW aspect .

At only six weeks, I must admit, you ought to chop a lot of the top growth down so the shrub puts all its energy back into settling in rather than trying to put on top growth.

I recommend you prune it down and continue to water it generously. Grown in a shady spot, your plant may try to reach for the sun with limited branching. It's best to give it a southerly or westerly aspect. Soil needs to be reasonably free draining too.

I can’t agree with you about the soil, ours is very acid moorland soil, mine grew like mad, I cut it down almost to the ground every Spring,  after 3 years we decided to take it right out.  This was in the September after a spring cut down.

    Dare I say I think you've had a lucky escape. IMHO it's a nightmare of a thug.

You’re right hosta, that’s after it was half cut down, it was a tiny little thing from Morrisons.
    There’s  a clematis there now.
