Gathered scabious (cephalaria) seeds

Mr. Vine EyeMr. Vine Eye Posts: 2,394
Hi all, I picked up a seed head today while out and about which had come from this:

Some kind of cephalaria based on a Google search for 'tall yellow scabious'

Does anyone know whether I can sow now to get them started off with growing ready for next year- or best waiting til later in the year now?

Thanks

it self seeds everywhere so be ready to remove those you don't want as it sends down a tap root at record speed.

Thanks. Yes I could see the plant was huge. Fancied growing some at my allotment.

Ive tried growing some this year from some collected seed can’t remember when I sowed the seed probably about March April time in a tiny unheated greenhouse & out of about 30 seeds I’ve got 6 plants they’re all still really small no sign of any flowers I’m hoping to keep them going maybe they’ll flower next year!!!
    Good luck 😁

Oops, I planted one of those a year or so back. Has flowered for the first time this year, very pretty but I guess I'd better go and cut the seedheads off pretty quickly!

So you did! Sorry, I missed it. I’m getting so many notification emails through from this website I must have not opened that one properly. Will reply!
