My guess would be £150 +/- for half a day’s work. My experience of heavy pruning of lilacs is that they retaliate! When ours was done it sent up a forest of suckers from the roots.
Obviously, I was going to prune it back, but pressure to cut it down is upsetting.
Gosh, there's a global pandemic. REALLY, is this THE most pressing thing on the
TO DO LIST ( They are going about cutting down everything including THE most beautiful tree that was an old friend to many a nest! I would say it had been there for about 40 plus years, and was a selling point of the house. They pruned it back at first then I popped out one morning and it was gone, wanted to sit on the grass and cry.
Previous neighbour left all her pretty trees and plants including a spiral topiary tree.
    Pulled up and destroyed 😟☹️

Upsetting as it may be, they can do what they like with the plants in their own garden. What they shouldn't do is cut back or damage your plants beyond the boundary line. That is criminal damage although the police probably won't be able to do much more than give them a warning. If they threaten you that might be a different matter
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
  • @Dollystocks8 is bonkers, I love her x
  • Caught the lady pulling the plant over to cut then letting it ping back! No matter,I am keeping calm and carrying on😬 ( nobody can beat Mother Nature, they will grow back more fabulous than before, and when they do, I shall laugh heartily and shout CHECKMATIE, GOOD DAY TO YOU😡😄)
  • I have pruners but they are a bit stiff and blunt ( the shame ) serviceable in their day ( weren't we all duckie🙄) Should I invest in those long ones, or can anyone suggest some good equipment for this heinous task ( think I can do most from ground level )😐
  • Cheers Jen, Cheers Sam ( sigh ) bloody pests, so mad I could crush a grape😡😖🤣
  • I have a good mind to either throw the cut branches onto their bloody barbecue or build a tee- pee tent with branches, twigs, and bits of lilac tree, right next to their fence.😮😮
GOOD MORNING, ( waves ) just boiling some nettles ( stirs pot over tiny open fire )😁
  • Question - Why are people obsessed with barbecues😐I mean, on lockdown specifically!
Lady in question shouts loudly for others to hear HAVE YOU GOT IT, CAN YOU MANAGE,THE BARBECUE? Rancid smell of various bits of, well various bits really, being burnt on a steel grill! JUST STAY INSIDE AND TURN THE BLOOMING OVEN ON!

  • Some people thing that they have 'arrived' when they become owners of the tin thing.
Please note, you never see a barbecue on Downton Abbey ( just saying😐) I suspect that in their minds they are under the impression that they have joined the 'landed gentry' as they sling raw sausages on the outside smoky hot coal appliance🤔
  • We all love M&S, but there are 'types' that turn their noses up at Primark in the name of quality🙄Bloomers are bloomers and they are made in the same place!!!! Fact! YAWN! 😴Oh dear, it's been a long day, don't forget, suggestions for pruning type item thing for me anti- social lilac!🙄😁
