Hi, does anyone know what this plant is?

I loved this plant but unfortunately my neighbour decided to pull it up from our shared front garden before asking me 😭

It goes all along the fence, which in most parts is now mostly dead, but it looks ok at the front of the fence. She took the roots up in one corner only. Is there any hope it will have roots in more than one place? The vendor before me planted it.

Also, is there a way of taking a cutting and planting it so it does survive?

Thanks

It looks like a lace cap hydrangea. If you Google that, you ought to be able to be sure and should get how to propagate it. Usually cuttings are taken from non flowering shoots and they are quite easy to get going.
  • Amazing! Thanks so much for replying! I'm so excited to sort this so it doesn't die. Or I'll just buy a new one now I know what it is. Thanks again 😊

    Maybe Hydrangea anomala ssp.petiolaris ?

I second @Paul B3 identification and you can use some of those shoots you are holding as good cutting material.
