How to level my lawn?

Hi there, looking for some advice. I’m looking to try and save my Lawn. It very uneven in places and becoming a hazard for my two year old.
What is the easiest way to level it? I read somewhere the spreading topsoil and laying new seed will work. Is this the case?

If you do it gradually, the existing grass will just grow up through.  I've done that in several areas of my yard.. but I don't keep a pristine lawn.

  • @Blue Onion is it best to use top soil or could compost be better?

I just used garden soil out of my raised beds.. but either would work.  Whatever you have on hand.  I've used bagged compost on patchy dry areas to help improve the soil in that part of the lawn.. or last year's spent potting soil.
