unhappy roses :(

hi all! i'm a new gardener with a new garden in which i've just planted two new rose bushes. They're about a meter apart planted in the same flower bed getting the same light and care. Hower theyre reacting very differently to being planted. One bloomed very quickly and was beautiful but is two weeks after drooping with yellowing flower buds falling off and yellow leaves.  The other hasn't bloomed yet, but is however not showing any sign of immediate weakness. I'm not sure what to do? What i'm doing wrong? Hope some of you out there can help me out! :)

Thank you!

Have you been watering them well? New roses need two watering cans full of water twice a week unless you've had very heavy rain. It's common for new plants to droop a bit while they establish and put out feeding roots. You can't expect new growth just yet!

  • Hi again lizzie! I think I have. I normally water quite well. If anything I tend to overwater. Does this look over watered to you? Would you suggest I prune off the flowers now? It actually hadn't bloomed when I got it. It started flowering about two weeks after I planted it. I thought for a second it was doing well. Less so now. Thanks again for replying ! :)

Generally speaking the leaves look healthy enough. As Lizzie says,  watering is the key. You want them to put their energy into putting down roots and getting established. I would cut off the drooping flower buds. Patience is the key  :)
