prunning standard wisteria plant in july/aug

our wisteria will need to be pruned now,But how do i do it,Every were i`ve looked,its all about cutting off the long tendrils,well we have not had any of them,just lush green leaves,
So how do i prune please,is it this years growth i cut back.
Just to let you know it flowered last year ,but no flowers this year(we did`nt prune last year)

    The pruning is the same for standards as it is for wall trained, assuming your standard has reached the height you wanted and has made a crown of stems.   Take each branch or stem back to 7 leaf nodes, counted from their origin on the main stem or a side stem.

    In February, you then take them back to 2 leaf nodes.   This dual pruning encourages flowering but you should also feed it in spring with a good, slow release fertiliser for roses or tomatoes.   An occasional liquid feed of rose or tomato feed will help too but only between spring and mid July or you'll get soft growth that won't mature enough before the winter frosts.
