Olive Tree problem

We bought two olive tree late last year and they are in pots which are south facing - we are in Dorset. They dropped most of their leaves in the Spring but soon put on a lot of healthy new growth. One of the trees has a lot of very small brown almost seed like growths on the branches and now shown signs of a small white sticky substance in one or two places. The other tree is completely free of this. Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I can’t see from the pictures, but from your description that sounds very much like a scale insect problem.
