Unhappy Acer griseum

Hi,
I recently bought an established 3m Acer griseum for our garden. It was planted late last year but has been looking increasingly unhappy over the summer and now has started dropping leaves which look like the image below.
The scorch I understand due to the hot weather in May, but is that the only issue going on here?
It's been kept well watered during the warm weather, but am I missing something obvious? I've done a quick google on the yellowing, but couldnt find any answers.
