Apple scab - should I keep tree?

HalleSHalleS Posts: 105
Hi everyone.
I planted an Apple tree this year and the lovely people of this forum have diagnosed it with scab. I have read that the apples are still edible to some extent but also there is no way to cure scab because the fungicides have been banned. My question is, should I let the tree grow or remove it and try again with a scab resistant variety?

By all means let the tree grow but increase hygiene - make sure to remove all fallen leaves and fruit from below the tree. More info here https://www.rhs.org.uk/advice/profile?pid=81

Thanks @steephill, I’ve seen the RHS advice and I will stay vigilant with hygiene. I can’t understand why my tree got scab basically right after planting - there were no fallen leaves or fruit to infect it!
Also, it’s unclear as to whether the scab will go away with proper care or if my tree will just have scab forevermore.
