The birds certainly eat mine, but that's partially why I planted it. Plus it's a tree the height of my upstairs windows (it's Amelianchier lamarkii not canadensis) so not going to be picking anything up there.

I might be wrong, but I think "they" have decided that canadensis and lamarkii are basically the same plant.
One wonders why some folk ask questions if they presume to already know the answers
If you are refering to me, I didn know any answer when I posted and still not sure but the replies pointed me in a direction worth looking and I may or may not have found the answer, which I then posted for comment.
Without the combined help of Dovefromabove,Jenny, K67 and others I would not have followed the google trail that led me there. So thanks to everyone for their help
