How to store onions

Hi all my onions look like they are ready to pull up can anyone tell me how I dry them out and store them

    First of all you need to bend over the necks so the onion bulb fattens and ripens.   Once happy with that, use a fork to lift each onion so the roots stay intact an dnot damaged as this prolongs stored life.

    I use a wooden pallette, plonked on an old table base and with plastic coated wire battened across so there are holes through which I drop the garlic foliage for drying out.   My garlic has dried successfully (relief cos it mostly went soft last year) but is too stiff and brittle to plait the stems so have cut them all off and put the bulbs in a wire mesh, 3 level, vegetable basket suspended in a cool, shady place.   That has left me space for the onions to dry.  I'll try and take a pic tomorrow.

    After they’ve dried out on the pallets, you can try and plait them, as I didn’t  do very well😀
