What’s ailing my Honeysuckle?

Ok so my strawberries appear to on the long road to recovery. I don’t want my honeysuckle getting that bad. Anyone know what this is and how to treat it please?

Powdery mildew ... honeysuckles often succumb to this if they are stressed by drought.

Honeysuckle needs to have its feet in the shade and it’s head in the sun, and it’s toes permanently damp.

It’s not in a sunny bed is it, or even in a pot?

  • The wall it's on gets sun for 4 or 5 hours.  I'll make sure I water it more. What's best to treat the infection please?

Give it loads of water ... a couple of buckets full  every other day until mid September. poured gently over the root area so that it can soak down deeply. Start the watering again in mid March and keep it up even if it rains (maybe not if it’s hours of torrential  rain but yes otherwise).

There’s no treatment to cure the foliage that’s already been affected.  The damaged leaves will drop off. Gather them and bag or burn them ... fresh ones will regrow; if not now then next spring.

  • Ok picked the worst of the leaves off and soaked it. It doesn’t smell at all this year whereas last year with half the leaves it was quite fragrant
