the wee spikeys in our garden are happy to squidge under the cage door to get to their food. I'd say that space is fine for them

The plastic storage box feeding station is great. Best put in middle of garden ( as hogs will eat anywhere) but keeps food away from other pests. I just use dry hog food , and a big bowl of water is essential too. Mine often just come for the water.

Thanks @Hostafan1, I feel better about my fence gaps now.

I always leave water out for whoever wants it. Other half says  he saw a mouse having a drink a while ago. 🙂

Good luck. We have 2 permanent hogs living here and at least 2 that limbo under the gate. I see them go down the path eating snails and slugs then a few mins later there is the alarming noise of hedgehogs mating. Google it if you can. I thought an animal was in distress the first time I heard it. Went out with a torch and interrupted 2 mating couples. Hubby says I've invented "hogging"!  :open_mouth:

One other point to mention is they can't have milk or fish flavour food. Meat flavour cat biscuits is what's on the menu here and fresh water of course.
I live in the centre of Ipswich with only a medium sized garden. The trick is don't be too tidy.  Wildlife needs cover and so do the creatures it eats. The other thing is NO SLUG PELLETS. I don't use weed killer either.  Basically if it kills, I don't want it.  The hedgehogs will eat the slugs anyway!
    Best of luck  :)

AnnieD.... seriously......I feel I should play some Barry White! They get some action!! I'm hoping for hoglettes.... although they are already costing me a fortune in cat biscuits! Not to mention I now have a stray fluffy tabby that has moved into the shed with them! Room for all here! Since she showed upthere are no rats afterthe bird food! Everyone's a winner!
HalleS, your very welcome! Wild gardens are very entertaining!
A wildlife pond is your next adventure but I warn you... ive burnt many a dinner watching frogs and newts!  :/

@WonkyWomble I’ve been dreaming about a pond! Our garden is mostly cement for now but we’ll be doing it up once finished renovating the inside. I can’t wait!

@WonkyWomble, l have never seen hoglets in my garden, but this mother and baby were caught on camera in my MIL's garden. These days he (?) is allowed out by himself, and is particularly partial to hedgehog biscuits  :)
